Are you interested in making your community more respectful, understanding and inclusive of people with dementia and their families? Join us for "Collaborating for a Dementia-Friendly Washington: Moving Forward Together" - Washington's premiere virtual conference on building dementia-friendly communities!

  • Pre-Conference Virtual "Happy Hour," 4-5 p.m. Monday September 18: Experience Dementia Friends, a 1-hour workshop that you can use to bring dementia awareness to your communities
  • 2-day Virtual Event: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday September 19-20
  • Optional In-Person Networking Events: Tuesday afternoon, September 19, various times, hosted in Clark County, King County, Spokane County and Whatcom County. More info posted by Sep 1 on event website.

Conference highlights:

  • Learn about the Dementia Friendly America approach to making your community more dementia-friendly
  • Discover dementia-friendly programs you can offer in your senior center, library, faith community, and more
  • Explore culturally-tailored dementia awareness initiatives and programs
  • Meet the nationwide winners of the 2023 Maude's Awards for Innovations in Alzheimer's Care (www.maudesawards.org).

The conference is for anyone who wants to take action to make their community more dementia-friendly, including people with dementia, caregivers, and people who work/volunteer in a variety of public settings: aging and senior services, arts and culture, chambers of commerce, city government, community centers, cultural associations, faith communities, libraries, neighborhood groups, parks and recreation, service clubs, social or health care services.

This event is organized by the UW Memory and Brain Wellness Center, on behalf of the Washington State Dementia Action Collaborative, with primary funding provided by the Aging and Long Term Support Administration, and with a planning committee made up of advisors from across the state.
