Meet Kim Briggs: Memory Hub Front Desk Volunteer

March 23, 2026

Kim Briggs is a new front desk volunteer at the Memory Hub. The front desk volunteers are the first contact that visitors have upon entering the community center. Each volunteer brings a commitment to the Memory Hub mission, a compassionate and helpful spirit, and respect and kindness for folks living with memory loss and their caregivers. Join us in welcoming Kim!

Why are you excited to work at the Hub? What do you look forward to doing and learning here?

I am thrilled to be able to volunteer at the Memory Hub! I enjoy connecting with people and finding small ways in which I might brighten someone’s day— whether it’s through a smile, laugh, or story.

I believe that knowledge is power and it enables people to make decisions that are in their best interests. I look forward to becoming well-versed in the many resources available through the Memory Hub so that I may empower and support others as they navigate the next steps in their journeys.

What are some of your life or work experiences that led you here to support dementia-friendly communities?

I come from a background of education and nursing, as both an early elementary school teacher and a clinic nurse. I enjoy caring for others and helping them achieve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. In my personal life, I've had loved ones who were touched by stroke, aphasia, and Lewy body dementia. I came to appreciate how their experiences shaped them and their caregivers. I also realized that being a part of their support system brought me great joy, too.

What would you like the Memory and Brain Wellness Center team and Hub collaborators to know about you?

I love music of all kinds. I grew up playing classical piano, and I appreciate everything in between. I truly believe in the power of music to elicit feelings, emotions, and memories. Likewise, I believe that music is like a connector that brings people together.  I recently bought a guitar and I’m eager to learn how to play it!

What do you like to do outside of work? Any hobbies or passions?

I enjoy hiking and paddle boarding, listening to music, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family. I’ve recently joined a cookbook/dinner club and enjoy trying out new recipes and catching up with friends. One of my favorite memories was traveling to Greece with my husband, our two adult daughters, and their partners.
