Programs for People Living with Memory Loss
Alzheimer's Café - Every second Tuesday from 2:30 – 4 p.m., join the Frye Art Museum and the UW Memory and Brain Wellness Center for an uplifting time of social connection for people with memory loss and their families. A unique opportunity for people living with dementia, their care partners, family, and friends to enjoy companionship, good food, live music, and fun in a relaxed environment. Advance registration is required for this free program.
Memory Loss: A Guide to Next Steps - Have you recently been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment or dementia? Join us for this introductory class. Get your questions answered by an expert panel including peer mentors who share strategies for living well with memory loss, and a medical provider from the UW Memory & Brain Wellness Center. Learn more about the resources in our handbook, Living With Memory Loss, and some helpful websites. You'll leave feeling encouraged and more confident for the road ahead. A free program.
Memory Navigator Drop-in Services - Looking for information or support for the memory loss journey? At the Memory Hub, an Alzheimer’s Association care consultant acts as “Memory Navigator,” offering appointments two days per week during open hours. Discuss the kinds of memory loss resources you’re looking for, and discover what may be available in your community to help you thrive.
Elderwise Day Program - The Elderwise adult day program provides a structured program of arts, exercise, discussion and shared community for people with dementia, while providing respite for caregivers. The program welcomes up to eight participants each day with a team of two program facilitators, creating an intimate social group of friends. With an inclusive philosophy, new people are always welcomed into the community. Resource and Education Days - The UW MBWC offers education and support events for people and families navigating particular kinds of dementia diagnoses. In 2022 our events are taking place online using Zoom.
Tech Tuesdays - The Tech Lab at the Memory Hub features regular hands-on consumer technology demonstrations for people with memory loss and care partners, and trainings to learn how technology can promote social connection, emotional and physical wellness, and independent living. We will maintain a library of devices, such as tablets, smart speakers, virtual reality headsets, and more.

Join us from 1 - 1:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and enjoy dynamic speakers to help you thrive on your memory loss journey.
Garden Discovery - Join us in Maude’s Garden at the Memory Hub - the new home base for the Garden Discovery program! Enjoy a seasonal exploration of the garden, engage in nature-based activities led by a horticultural therapist, and connect with others living with memory loss and their families. A 3-part series, offered from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the first Friday of each month in a season. No cost to attend. Location: The Memory Hub, 1021 Columbia St. Seattle, WA 98104. Space is limited. Pre-registration for the 3-part summer series is required: Tamara Keefe, (206) 615-0100, tamara.keefe@seattle.gov. Offered in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, with generous support from Family Resource Home Care.

Dementia Training for Family Caregivers - Dementia Training for Family Caregivers is an online course designed to be taken at your own pace, through reading and watching videos. This no-cost course includes five, hour-long modules. You also meet weekly with a facilitator who provides individualized coaching. The course follows the Evidence-Based STAR-Full Life curriculum developed for use by Full Life Care.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a 6-week educational series designed to help you care for yourself while you care for a loved one. Learn about effective communication, making challenging decisions, moving through difficult emotions, getting connected to helpful resources, and more. Project ECHO Dementia The Memory and Brain Wellness Center Clinic's Project ECHO Dementia (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) program is a learning model in which front-line care providers from around WA State meet in a web-based virtual conference room with an interdisciplinary panel of experts in memory loss and dementia. A brief 15-minute didactic is followed by an hour of case-based learning where everyone at the table is both a teacher and a learner.
Dementia-Friendly Washington Learning Collaborative - We are a group of people who organize, facilitate, or participate in dementia-friendly community efforts in Washington State. We meet online every other month for 75 minutes to inspire, equip and support expansion of dementia-friendly community efforts, learning from and sharing with each other around a common theme.
